Opportunity at a Glance

The Software Development Director will be directly responsible for managing people, process and technologies that drive a customer product platform. This Director will be responsible for establishing foundational best practices for support and maintenance of the existing platform. Additionally, this Director will manage direct reports, 3rd party developers and expert contractors in the design, planning, implementation, and support of a next-gen platform.

Responsibilities

•Manage a team consisting of 10 to 15 software developers and product maintenance resources including analysts, developers, solution managers and administrators to support a customer facing technical platform.
•Leverage and manage balanced workloads for the inhouse staff, 3rd party offshore resources and consulting expertise, as needed.
•Lead development team through digital transitions while maintaining and managing existing platforms thru sunset
•Ability to assess and improve break-fix throughput through streamlined processes and issue analysis
•Experience assessing, defining, and implementing software development disciplines and processes including standards, documentation, governance, controls, and policy.
•Establish and report against key software development KPIs to align with business goals and delivery milestones
•Effectively manage outside resources that include specific expertise
•Accountable for the delivery of, sprint releases and products to internal business partners
•Support IT leader in development of an IT Operating Plan that aligns with strategic business objectives.
•Prepare and present periodic reviews illustrating service delivery effectiveness, metrics review, and areas of opportunity (including tracking).
•Attract and retain talent developing a high performing team.

•Manage a lean development team that includes staff, off-shore resources, and as-needed expert consulting.
•Create and implement software development improvement standards that includes governance, policy, documentation, controls and KPIs.
•Work collaboratively with business stakeholders for requirement priorities
•Effectively improve break-fix processes and productivity through implementation of best practices including issue analysis, root cause identification and mitigation.
•Develop key KPI and performance reporting standards to measure, anticipate and accurately plan software development delivery milestones, and report such information to senior leadership
•Drive continuous improvement of the enterprise intake review and become an internal business partner with the cross functional teams
•Experience managing, developing, delivery and support of customer facing technical platforms.
•Accountable for the delivery of sprint releases and products to internal customers.
•Drive the design and development of a multi-year strategy that encompasses people, process, and technology.
•Research and maintain technology and features as related to business initiatives
•Manage technology/vendor selection cycle as part of future digital transformation efforts
•Prepare and present periodic reviews illustrating service delivery effectiveness, metrics review, and areas of opportunity (including tracking).
•Lead team members in drafting and deploying process improvement and knowledge management competencies across enterprise solutions.
•Attract and retain talent developing a high performing team.

Qualifications

•Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent industry experience required.
•Five (5) plus years of IT leadership experience
•Ten (10) plus years of overall IT experience in software development efforts
•Five (5) plus years of experience implementing and managing integrated SaaS or cloud-based products to deliver a customer tech enabled platform.
•Proven ability to work with business stakeholders to deliver priorities initiatives to meet go-to market time frames
•Experience managing large projects with complex operational processes and procedures.
•Thorough knowledge, understanding and implementation of SDLC with multiple technologies
•Knowledge of Agile practices, techniques, and technologies
•Experience with Salesforce.com a plus
•Experience in deploying and utilizing mature IT risk management methods and methodologies to gauge overall business risk and business impact
•Possess effective communication, risk management, and risk-based decision-making skills, enabling you to work effectively under stressful conditions.
•Ability to mentor and develop staff for peak performance
•Proven ability to communicate professionally in a corporate environment, work in cross-functional collaborative teams and implement organizational change management.
•Ability to deal with a fast pace and fast changing environment to meet internal and external customer needs.
