Opportunity at a Glance

Provide oversight for all financial activities within ACAMS demonstrating sound financial leadership with proven business effectiveness. As a key member of the leadership team, reporting directly to the ACAMS President & Managing Director, the Director of Financial Planning and Strategy is responsible for global financial management and financial integrity of ACAMS which includes strategic financial planning, budget analysis and management, financial modeling and reporting, cost management, forecasting needs, accounting and investment strategies. The Director, Financial Planning and Strategy monitors and evaluates ACAMS’ financial performance and recommends appropriate fiscal measures for achieving financial objectives and supporting growth.  

The position will drive improved financial and operating performance specifically focusing on revenue growth, global expansion and long-term strategic planning.


  • Serve as ACAMS senior financial executive and provide guidance to senior leadership regarding current and future financial considerations
  • Lead and drive excellence in the ACAMS global strategic planning process
  • Liaison with Adtalem Home Office and Professional Education Group Finance leader on key deliverables
  • Partner with ACAMS president and senior leaders on operational and strategic challenges. Provides recommendations to successfully navigate challenges based on financial analysis and projections, and revenue/expense analysis
  • Establish and maintain financial discipline and provide business decision support to evaluate strategic business opportunities
  • Lead effort to proactively identify investment, continuous improvement and cost optimization opportunities across ACAMS
  • Key partner to the ACAMS President and senior leaders in developing new growth opportunities by identifying funding opportunities, partnerships or acquisitions
  • Lead long-term budgetary planning and cost management. Ensures use of effective budget reporting and feedback mechanisms that drive global operational efficiency
  • Chiefly responsible for leading the global annual planning and forecasting processes;  enhances the existing planning processes and structure in a manner which facilitates transparency, forecast accuracy, timeliness, continuous improvement and revenue growth
  • Manage the areas of financial planning, accounting, and business development and strategy, including hiring, evaluation and development of staff.
  • Manage the annual institution portion of financial and Sarbanes-Oxley audits. Ensures the minimum requirements of Sarbanes-Oxley are achieved on a consistent basis.
  • Oversees global asset management in maintaining appropriate controls over asset acquisition and management, including the Capital Expenditure Authorization (CEA) process.

  • Masters’ Degree in Accounting or equivalent required; CPA and/or MBA preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible global financial management experience, with oversight of financial functions.
  • Strong financial management, analytical and reporting skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to write, develop, and deliver presentations and training.
  • Ability to build trust and effective working relationships across a broad range of people and functions.
  • Uses strong influencing skills to build commitment and persuade others to take appropriate action. Can challenge and confront stakeholders appropriately while maintaining relationships; seeks input from key partners within other institutions
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, SOX compliance, and business acumen.
  • Excellent computer systems and data management skills.
  • Understands the importance of developing and retaining talent and creating a high performing work environment.
  • Team player who is also capable of working independently with strong self-motivation.
  • Prefer experience within a geographically dispersed organization.
  • Domestic and international travel required.
